Our Philosophy

The Christian educational philosophy practiced by First Baptist Academy is Kingdom Education. The definition of Kingdom Education is the life-long, Bible-based, Christ-centered process of leading a child into a new identity with Christ, developing a child according to his/her specific abilities given to him by Christ, so that a child would be more empowered to live a life characterized by love, trust, and obedience to Christ. The end result is that our students will grow and mature spiritually and academically to be like Christ and live lives to honor and glorify God.

This philosophy is built on Biblical principles found in God’s Word that must be intentionally presented and practiced throughout every facet of our lives. No matter what stage of life we, as Christians, are in, the Biblical principles of Kingdom Education must be applied to all learning.

In Dr. Glen Schultz’ book, Kingdom Education, he identifies ten Biblical principles that guide Christian parents, church leaders, and Christian educators on how to educate future generations God’s way.

The education of children and youth:

  1. Is the primary responsibility of parents (Psalm 127:3; Deuteronomy 6:7-9; Psalm 78:4-5; Proverbs 22:6)
  2. Is a 24 hour-a-day, 7 days-per-week process that continues from birth till maturity (Deuteronomy 6:7; Deuteronomy 11:19; Proverbs 22:6)
  3. Must have as its primary goals the salvation of and discipleship of the next generation (Matthew 28:19-20; Psalm 78:6-7)
  4. Must be based on God’s Word as absolute truth (Matthew 24:35; Psalm 119:89; Isaiah 40:8)
  5. Must hold Christ as preeminent in all of life (Colossians 2:3; Colossians 2:6-10)
  6. Must not hinder the spiritual and moral development of the next generation (Matthew 18:6; Matthew 19:13-14;Mark 10:13-16;Luke 18:15-17)
  7. If and when delegated by parents, must be done with utmost care to ensure that all teachers follow these principles (Exodus 18:21; I Samuel 1:27-28; I Samuel 3:1-10)
  8. Results in the formation of a belief system or worldview that will be patterned after the belief systems or worldviews of the person’s teachers (Luke 6:40; Philippians 4:9)
  9. Must lead to true wisdom and understanding (Proverbs 4:5,7; Proverbs 9:10; Psalm 19:1; Romans 1:20; Colossians 2:3)
  10. Must have a view of the future that includes the eternal perspective (Colossians 3:23-24; Matthew 6:19-21; Hebrews 11:13; 2 Timothy 4:6-8; Acts 20:24)
