Sign Language

The use of American Sign Language offers a "hands on" beginning to literacy. Research has heightened awareness of the developmental continuum of skills necessary to produce good readers. Backed by this research, FBA incorporates the basic components of oral language development, phonemic awareness, and print knowledge. Our teachers understand that sign language and finger spelling are fun and productive ways to actively engage young learners in the process. Students will learn basic signs and phrases for colors, numbers, classroom objects, and more and enjoy signing many favorite songs. Students will continuously learn that God made people alike and different, and all people are important to God.
